F11 Series Universal Dividing Head
The universal dividing head is capable of: Direct Indexing by disengaging the index worm from the spindle and using the angular spindle dial; Angular Indexing using one of the indexing plates and indexing crank; Simple (plain or indirect) Indexing using an indexing plate and crank; Differential Indexing using the spindle adapter and output shaft connected with 2 gears (plain gearing) up to 4 gears and 2 idler gears (compound gearing); and Helical Milling by driving a milling machine lead screw with gears from the output shaft of the dividing head. The spindle angle is adjustable from 5° below horizontal to 95° above horizontal.
The system consist of: The dividing head with a typical 40:1 ratio of index crank turns to spindle turns and the ability to disengage the spindle from the index worm for free rotation; angle graduations on the spindle ring; index plate mounting ring with angular graduations which is connected by a worm gear to the output shaft; 2 index plates with standard Cincinnati hole patterns; 12 gears for differential indexing or helical milling; tailstock; steady rest; spindle adapter for differential indexing; lathe dog clamp; Morse taper dead center; 3 jaw chuck with backing plate; 4 slot faceplate; 5 gear studs; 2 gear and stud brackets; keyed sleeve for gear attachment to a milling machine table lead screw; and wooden shipping crate suitable for storage.
